Sydney's Premier Australian Liposuction Company

We all know that diet & exercise is important but sometimes it’s difficult to remove stubborn fat. Most of our clients tried exercising but even after losing weight they find that in certain areas of their body there is still stubborn pockets of fat. This is because when we lose weight, the fat cell also called an adipocyte does not go anywhere, it actually just decreases in size.

This is why liposuction has become so popular in today’s world. Liposuction permanently removes the fat cells and allows the surgeon to properly contour the body, allowing a more aesthetically well rounded body shape. Then when you do put weight on, the fat is better proportioned and balanced throughout the body.

Many of our clients request to contour areas such as hips (love handles), stomach (tummy tuck), thighs, chin, neck, arms due to the nature that their body distributes fat unevenly throughout their bodies.

What is liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure aimed at removing fatty deposits in the body that are resistant to diet & exercise. It is a minimal invasive procedure in which fat is sucked out of the body through a hollow tube called the canula inserted through an incision on the targeted area. Most procedures last up to 90 minutes and patients return to work after 2 days of recovery. To find out more, click here.

The Liposuction Process

Most body fat is located between the muscle and the skin. The amount of fat that exists depends on inherited traits, body type, and lifestyle factors such as diet & exercise. Liposuction works by removing excess fat with a suction device resulting in improved contours of the body. There are a variety of liposuction techniques that include ultrasonic waves or laser light to aid fat removal. However most liposuction techniques are variations of the widely used procedure known as tumescent liposuction which uses a special fluid to aid in fat removal with suction. Our physicians will carefully mark the areas that will be sculpted and use these markings as guidelines through the procedure. Liposuction may be done under local anaesthesia, where only the surrounding area is numb, or you will be asleep under local general anaesthesia for procedures involving large areas or multiple areas on the body.

Next, tumescent fluid is injected to expand the tissue & numb the treatment area. Once a large volume of tumescent fluid is injected in the treatment area, the patient will rest for several minutes while the area becomes completely numb. Short incisions are made in inconspicuous areas with a small tube like device called a cannula. Using a forward a back motion, small tunnels are created in the fat layer, removing the fat with suction. The tunnels will collapse over the next few weeks resulting in new contours in the specific treatment areas. For larger areas, a special compression will need to worn for a few weeks to provide support and aid in the treatment.
